The
SEC Professionals Group, the preeminent group for financial
reporting practitioners, today announced The
Honorable Jay Clayton, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) will speak at its quarterly meeting on September
11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. central time. The meeting will be held during the Workiva
Amplify user conference at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention
Center in Dallas, Texas.
“As an organization devoted to the needs and development of the
professionals planning, interpreting and presenting public company
performance, the most significant speaker we can have is the Chairman of
the SEC,” said David Feit, SEC Pro Group member.
Chairman Clayton, who was sworn in on May 2017, has decades of
experience ranging from the front lines to the executive office. Prior
to joining the Commission, Chairman Clayton was a partner at Sullivan &
Cromwell LLP, where he was a member of the firm’s management committee
and co-head of its corporate practice.
Areas of focus for Chairman Clayton include making U.S. capital markets
more accessible to businesses and investors while ensuring that the U.S.
continues to be the world’s leader of effective disclosure, and
examining and addressing structural issues in equity and fixed income
markets.
Attendees will hear about the priorities and direction of the SEC and
gain insights on how they can adapt to new regulatory standards. The
Chairman will answer questions submitted by SEC Pro Group members on
recent regulatory requirements related to cyber security, smaller
reporting companies, accounting for crypto currencies and expanding
investor access to private capital markets.
