Odyssey Interactive, an independent game development studio founded by former Riot Games leads on League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, has raised $19 million in a series A round led by Makers Fund, with participation by Anthos Capital, The Mini Fund, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and angel investor Mitch Lasky. Odyssey Interactive’s debut title Omega Strikers, a free-to-play competitive 3v3 knockout striker, has earned acclaim from players globally for its PC Open Beta which launched in September 2022. Odyssey is focused on fully launching Omega Strikers in February 2023 with native controls and full cross-play with cross-progression on PC, mobile devices and consoles.

“The reception to this early version of the game has humbled us – the fanart, streams, and highlight reels have given us a glimpse into the sort of impact we dream of having for players all over the world,” said Dax Andrus, co-founder of Odyssey Interactive. “Our goal as a dev team has always been to inspire and ignite the competitive spirit of players, and we believe we can hit that aspirational height by integrating their feedback from the beta, and by doubling down on launch.”

The Omega Strikers PC Open Beta showcased the team’s deep understanding of running live service games from their years on League and Teamfight Tactics. In the first month of live service Odyssey Interactive has already dropped three new strikers with plans for two more in the months ahead. The studio is issuing important balance changes to respond to player feedback and will introduce new arenas, limited time modes and more opportunities to compete in small-scale tournaments leading into launch.

“The Odyssey Interactive team has an impressively well-rounded, hands-on experience in developing, shipping and running live service games,” said Ryann Lai, Partner at Makers Fund. “The launch of their first title, Omega Strikers, showcases their ability to create an endearing IP and to execute with the nimbleness, precision and savviness necessary to succeed in today’s highly competitive content market.”

Omega Strikers is now available in Open Beta for PC via Steam and will launch to mobile devices and consoles with cross-platform and cross-progression capabilities in February 2023.
