The session, “Building Trust and Value: Our Mission-Driven Cloud Journey” will take place on Wednesday, October 11 from 1:30 PM–2:00 PM CT in room W184a, Level 1, and will provide insights into the adoption of the cloud in support of research and academics in higher ed. The session will explore the following topics:

  • Strategic drivers of the University of Oregon’s cloud program

  • Challenges and successes in partnering with faculty to meet curricular needs for data science

  • The foundational capabilities prioritized for the university’s multi-cloud journey

  • How to achieve frictionless cloud access, increased visibility, and enhanced financial control

  • How the university built trust, exceeded expected value, and improved its ability to support future curricular needs

“Universities have had challenges embracing the cloud, but in doing so they can accelerate innovation, scale, and agility in a constantly changing environment. Our goal is to help higher education institutions find value in every step of the process and unlock the transformational power of the cloud,” said Shore. “Together, Christy and I will reinforce that universities offering hands-on cloud usage can expand their student experience, unlock online learning potential and differentiate their graduates from the pack.”

“At the University of Oregon, we’re working with academic and research constituents to enable low-friction speed to value across major public clouds. We selected Kion to provide cross-cloud security, compliance, and observability for campus projects and owners with defined budgets,” said Long. “We’re early in our journey and have recently completed a successful engagement with an academic department to enable foundational data science courses at scale. We’ll be sharing our successes and the challenges we’ve experienced along the way, and look forward to learning from other universities on a similar journey.”
