Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), alongside Tacx, today announced sponsorship of more than 20 professional cycling teams for 2020, including men’s and women’s WorldTour and mountain/enduro biking teams. The teams, which include several world champion cyclists, will be equipped with Garmin and Tacx products that will inform, guide and motivate riders.

Professional cycling teams sponsored by both Garmin and Tacx include: Mitchelton-SCOTT (M/F), SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing, Team Jumbo-Visma, EF Pro Cycling, Astana Pro Team, NTT Pro Cycling, CANYON//SRAM Racing and Team Total Direct Energie.

Garmin-sponsored professional cycling teams include: Team INEOS, Movistar Team (M/F), Trek-Segafredo (M/F), Rally Cycling (M/F), CUBE Action Team, Trek Factory Racing MTB and CLIF Pro Team.

Tacx-sponsored professional cycling teams include: Deceuninck – Quick-Step, Lotto Soudal (M/F), Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team, CCC-Liv, Bigla-Katusha, Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise, Telenet Baloise Lions and CST PostNL Bafang MTB Racing Team.

“These teams are full of talented athletes, including many world champion cyclists, and we are honored to have them using our innovative products to help with training, racing and adventure,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin vice president of global consumer marketing. “Taking advantage of the complete Garmin cycling ecosystem and state-of-the-art Tacx trainers, these cyclists will be able to ride year-round using top-of-the-line products, and we’re excited to be a part of their success come race day.”

Teams sponsored by Garmin will be equipped with an array of products to help increase performance while seeking to provide a safer cycling environment. Edge® cycling computers, including the Edge 130, Edge 530 and Edge 830, will provide performance data and metrics to cyclists, as well as GPS and navigational support. The teams will also be riding with the Varia™ RTL510 rearview radar during training, which will warn of vehicles approaching from behind, while a tail light brightens and flashes to alert drivers of a cyclist ahead. Additionally, many of the sponsored teams will use multisport GPS smartwatches and the Index™ smart scale to track key recovery metrics off of the bike, including body weight, body composition, resting heart rate, quality of sleep and stress.

Several Tacx-sponsored teams will be able to take their training indoors with smart trainers, including the NEO 2T Smart. The powerful and intuitive indoor cycling trainer measures data accurately within 1% and is known for its unique features including road feel, dynamic inertia and descent simulation, making training feel more lifelike. Additionally, many of the sponsored teams will be training and racing with Tacx bottles and Ciro bottle cages.
