CampusESP, a provider of technology solutions that help colleges and universities engage parents and families, announced today that it signed its 50th customer, Clemson University.
With only one full-time staff member dedicated to parent and family engagement, the University relied on social media and a monthly electronic newsletter to keep parents, families, and volunteers informed about important news and events.
It wasn’t enough. According to DeOnte T. Brown, Interim Associate Dean of Students at Clemson, parents were asking for more timely information on a variety of topics. After managing the threats posed by Hurricane Florence in the fall of 2018, staff members recognized that gaps existed in communications with students, their families, and the University. Clemson University offers alert notifications via social media, the University’s website, and mobile notifications. However, not all parents and family members were aware of the various options. Still others wanted a better way to follow-up on alerts and other notifications to fully understand their implications.
“We realized that we needed a more efficient and centralized system for communicating to parents and families. CampusESP had the features and flexibility we needed,” Mr. Brown said. “We’ll be able to engage with families more frequently and provide them with the information they want, based on their interests and preferences,” he added.
CampusESP will create an online community of Clemson families and key University staff to provide timely information about financial aid and tuition deadlines, and answer questions from parents more quickly. “We are especially looking forward to creating subcommunities that serve first-year families, out-of-state families, and first-generation families, and being able to deliver tailored messaging to families in those groups to support the unique needs of their student,” said Mr. Brown.
“Welcoming our 50th customer is an important milestone for us. We’re thrilled that one of the most celebrated public research institutions in the country chose CampusESP to support their community of parents and families,” said Dave Becker, CEO, CampusESP. “Clemson University joins a growing network of schools such as Penn State University, Morgan State University, Samford University, King’s College and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who all take parent engagement seriously and are committed to delivering the highest levels of excellence.”
