Cylance builds on Dell win by announcing EMEA channel expansion

Cybersecurity firm Cylance is expanding its EMEA channel by establishing a London-based team led by ex-FireEye UK and Ireland sales director Evan Davidson.

The move was announced at the NetEvents IT Symposium in Rome this week. Cylance already has Ignition Technologies as a UK distributor along with around 10 resellers, which it plans to increase in number to increase sales for its CylancePROTECT endpoint protection products.

The software uses artificial intelligence to predict and detect threats.

Along with the London-based team now being built, the company has also just hired reseller CoreSec Systems in Sweden and Denmark to sell its solutions across the Nordic region.

But another significant development in the company’s growth is an OEM agreement it recently signed with Dell, to replace McAfee software as the integrated security offered with the PC manufacturer’s business laptops and servers.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief marketing officer at Cylance, told ChannelBiz at NetEvents: “The Dell deal really will help kick-start our presence in the business security market. The agreement McAfee had with Dell expired and Dell did not want to extend it.

Dell has a another agreement with McAfee for the provision of security on consumer laptops, which I think expires in around a year’s time, and Dell have said they don’t want to extend that deal either. We are hopeful of winning that business too.”

Currently, 90 percent of Cylance’s business is generated in the US, but after expanding into the UK last year, and then moving into Sweden and Switzerland, it now wants to spread that business more evenly. It is also in Australia and plans a Japan entry too.

On his appointment as Cylance VP of EMEA sales, Evan Davidson said: “With the incredible market adoption of CylancePROTECT seen already, I look forward to accelerating the already stellar growth through the EMEA region.”
