Amazon Web Services Re:Invents Its Partner Programme
New programmes and competencies introduced as worldwide network reaches 8,000 partners
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has bolstered its partner network with the introduction of new programmes, competencies and partner benefits. The changes were announced at its Re:invent conference in Las Vegas.
The AWS Partner Network (APN), has grown to more than 8,000 technology and consulting partners worldwide, according to Amazon, and the programme itself provides the channel with technical, business and marketing support.

Amazon said the number of products available to the AWS Marketplace had increased 71 percent since the start of the year and the time these were in use had increased by over 700 per cent.
“The growth of the AWS Partner Network and AWS Marketplace continues to accelerate as customers actively seek partners with the products and expertise to help them take advantage of the AWS cloud,” says Terry Wise, director of worldwide partner ecosystem at AWS. “Our partners are critical to helping customers run their applications on AWS, and we will continue to invest in delivering the programmes, tools and training to help our partners grow their cloud businesses, differentiate their offerings, and drive success for our joint customers.”
The cloud firm said it would launch and expand a series of APN programmes and initiatives in 2014. One such initiative is its Advanced Channel Programme that will provide high-performing AWS channel partners with a new Advanced Channel Partner designation that gives them access to expanded technical support and content. Also a SaaS Accelerate Programme would provide specialised technical content and support for ISVs running software as a service applications on AWS.
A pilot programme called Partner Leads has been set to provide leads and opportunities to a select number of APN’s top consulting partners, while a Business Development Training Series has been designed to provide the training and information needed to engage customers on business development opportunities.
Market Development Funding will also be made available to enable select technology and consulting partners to apply for financial assistance to support market development activities.
