Sophos has announced a strategy to deliver cloud-managed security services that simplify its partners’ delivery of IT security. Sophos Cloud, it claimed, is an easy to set-up security service that provides essential protection from advanced threats.
Moving to the cloud means Sophos can offer customers and channel partners a means to manage endpoint security to protect all users, regardless of their physical location This first step focuses on protection at the endpoint but the company said it will be following an aggressive strategy of cloud-enabling its entire portfolio.
With IT teams facing a constant struggle to secure their enterprises, Sophos Cloud offers complete protection to small and mid-market enterprises, said Kris Hagerman, chief executive officer for Sophos. “Organisations of any size are looking to simplify their IT security operations,” he said.
Security resellers have an easy solution to offer clients, Hagerman said. With the management console hosted by Sophos Cloud, there is no server set up and the service can be created in an instant, Sophos claimed.
Endpoint protection can be created without the usual complexity involved in security management. David Fox, an IT consultant for Neptune Terminals, and an early adopter, commented, “The ability to administer our security with Sophos Cloud allows us to better manage our resources and enables us to effectively utilise our time and money. The service was easy for us to implement, and it seamlessly integrated into our environment.”
Analyst Charles Kolodgy, research vice president at IDC, said, “Small and medium businesses are especially challenged regarding IT security. They are targets and must meet security best practices yet are resource constrained. Sophos Cloud is a welcome addition. Its features can remove some of the complexity tied to security management, thus allowing small and mid-market businesses to improve security without taxing their resources.”
