WebTitan Cloud Service Set To Save SMBs From Net Nuisances

Security vendor SpamTitan Technologies has launched a filtering service WebTitan Cloud which the channel can use to protect clients from malware, phishing, viruses and emerging threats on the internet. The vendor is recruiting resellers via UK distributor Espion.

The cloud based web filtering service promises to monitor, control and protect users online and is being sold through a channel of distributors and resellers, claims the WebTitan Cloud provider.

Building blocks

The service, which SpamTitan claims is scalable and easy to set up and manage, allows policies to be created to block not just malware, phishing and viruses, but also more-recently declared abominations such as pornography, hate speech and “mature” websites.

Since the policies can apply to all devices, it would be a good way for the channel to offer security services in the age of bringing your own device to work, claimed the vendor.

“It’s important for companies to manage their security, which can be daunting whether they have 30 or 3000 employees,” said Ronan Kavanagh, CEO of SpamTitan.

WebTitan Cloud offers enterprise-class security solutions to SMBs, he claimed, so companies would probably get the most out of the service if they got a reseller or service provider to configure and manage it. The range of features on the hosted system includes monitoring and control website access, enforcing web use policies on sites with dynamic content, DNS (domain name service) based filtering, removing latency issues, and web-based application filtering.

The administration of these services, in addition to white and black lists, customisable end-user permissions, rule-making, and real-time organisational browsing views could make this too complicated for many SMEs to self administer, claimed SpamTitan.
