Systems integrators have been given a new option for workforce management, now Slovenian specialist Spica International has launched in the UK and is recruiting partners.
The UK team is headed up by managing director Nick Jakowiw and supported by export sales manager Rob Howland. Jakowiw pioneered new ways to integrate NFC (near field communication) technology into its systems in 2007 and has a strong following in the Adriatic and Middle East regions, with 3,000 customers in 25 countries. Howland’s job is to boost its customer base in the UK, where it currently has only one channel partner Permatek. Technology allies include HID, Morpho and Assa Abloy.
Spica wants systems integration specialists in workforce management, HR and ERP and security, as well as companies with specialist vertical market expertise, such as manufacturing and agriculture. Its reseller territory will be split into six main geographical regions in the UK.
Founder Andrija Pušić says the UK is a market ripe for growth: “We have spent many years getting it right in other parts of the world, designing and installing thousands of access control and T&A systems,” said Pušić, who is head of the company’s R&D in Ljubljana. “We are keen to capitalise on the popularity and growth of workforce management and also biometrics-based identification technologies in this market.”
Though he claimed the firm has been “very successful” with its first partner Permatek there is plenty of scope for growth, he said. “Our goal is to have a number of high-performing, dedicated partners in place over the next two years – and hundreds of Spica installations.”
