IT security company Webroot has chosen software and service distributor CDG to supply the vendor’s products and services to its reseller base in the UK. CDG will gain access to all of Webroot’s security products as well as cloud-based endpoint protection service SecureAnywhere.
According to Chris Patton, commercial director at CDG, his firm’s strategy is well suited to Webroot’s product line. He said that the agreement is “a partnership built on the same values, with a clear emphasis on innovation and enterprise, and look forward to building on this in the UK”.
“We are always exploring new market segments and open to acquiring new channel partners who are committed to delivering excellent solutions and support services to their customers,” said Jeff Santelices, vice president of Webroot Worldwide Demand Fulfillment. “CDG closely fits our model of strategic partnership at Webroot. Not only do they have extensive, market-leading experience of the security solutions market, their innovation distribution approach matches Webroot’s strong customer focus and product offerings.”
Last month, Webroot revised its channel relationships in a bid to boost business in its well-established cloud security market.
The firm rebooted its partner programme to enhance managed service offerings around data protection, with a particular focus on its SecureAnywhere Business Endpoint Protection. This is a security as a service offering supplied by managed service providers (MSPs) via remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform provider LabTech Software.
The programme’s refocusing acknowledges the changing landscape of the channel, welcoming MSPs as partners alongside more traditional resellers. In its revised form, the scheme boasts of a competitive advantage with increased services offerings and extra marketing and sales resources. Management automation integrates with RMM platforms and enables MSPs to give customers a “single pane of glass” to manage endpoint security.
The company has admitted that traditional endpoint security caused unplanned downtime in the past, and other performance issues, that have scared off MSPs from adding endpoint security to their portfolios. Webroot said the service has fixed these problems and now permits them to offer endpoint security services that would allow the generation of new revenue streams.
Webroot claimed the service is easy to deploy and manage and will be competitively priced.
