Portal said it bought Planit CPM.
It said that the buy of the Cognos analytics provider will form part of its strategy to “accelerate its growth” in the key areas of Information Management (IM) and social collaboration.
Planit, which has customers in a wide range of sectors including financial services, higher education and healthcare has also already worked alongside Portal on a number of joint client work and most of the staff from Planit will join Portal with immediate effect.
Shamus Kelly, CEO at Portal said the company made the decision to expand its capabilities significantly – particularly in IM, around a year ago.
He added analytics were crucial in both the company’s social collaboration and IM solutions meaning the acquisition of Planit was “a perfect fit”.
The buy comes after significant investment in Portal’s sales, pre-sales and post-sales staff to deliver IBM’s Information Management and analytics products to the market.
