Hitachi releases converged infrastructure packages
Hitachi releases converged infrastructure packages to its channel partners and fills a hole in the market
Hitachi Data Systems has released a portfolio of converged infrastructure products to its channel.
The products merge storage, server, networking and software management in an integrated packages designed for mission-critical workloads.
Dubbed the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform the packages include a pre-tested cloud-ready infrastructure that can be deployed quickly and managed easily.
It means that channel partners do not have to offer custom approaches that require exhaustive testing and integration costs.
There are 11 Hitachi UCP offerings give customers choices based on two converged infrastructure models.
The first model is the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform Pro. This is for VMware vSphere, which features Hitachi UCP Director software that provides VMware vCenter Server integrated management and orchestration.
Then there is Hitachi UPC Select which is a series of different packages that can be configured using a selection of Hitachi storage, server and software management. Hitachi UCP Select merges with the Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) servers and is designed for companies that need a flexible converged infrastructure.
Ravi Chalaka, vice president, Solutions Marketing, Hitachi Data Systems said that there is a hole in the market for enterprises and cloud service providers who provide mission-critical workloads.
The first-generation converged offerings fall short of customer needs he said.
