At the heart of EMC’s channel is its EMC Velocity Provider Program which acts to train resellers in its products.
The company’s latest add-on to that programme will provide distribution partners with training to offer their reseller partners assembly services for EMC VSPEX and other parts of EMC’s unified storage systems and backup.
The idea is that reseller Partners can use distributors’ assembly services to built better multi-vendor EMC technology for their customers.
Distributors will be provided with the technical training, proven techniques and the backing of EMC’s Global Services organisation.
This will mean that they can assemble EMC VSPEX Infrastructure for their resellers and have it arrive pre-assembled and customised for each customer. This would speed up the installation process.
EMC claims that resellers can focus on value-added services that deploy the solution that meets specific customer needs.
There have been a string of other new EMC programmes released over recent weeks as the company becomes more aggressive about its cloud services.
These include VSPEX Proven Infrastructure, as well as Velocity Cloud Builder and Cloud Provider and EMC Cooperative Services, which were announced in May.
Peter Castaldi, Principal and Co-Founder of the reseller Kovarus said that the new assembly services capabilities will dramatically speed up the time it takes to get a customer onto the cloud.
