Dell has unveiled a new line of Precision mobile workstations to sell into the business space.
The Precision M4700 and M6700 are toughened 15 inch and 17 inch mobile workstations with plenty of processing power, aimed at use in a variety of professions, from architects on construction sites to geophysicists or film editors.
The top end M6700 Covet machines will also use Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 for extra strength to withstand the inevitable knocks they will get once taken from the safety of the office.
Professionals needing strong graphics performance or using processor intensive applications will have access to a minimum of Core i5 Intel chips, with options for i7 and Extreme Edition processors, as well as Turbo Boost.
NVIDIA Quadro K-series GPUs and AMD FirePro graphics will also be available, as well as optional 512GB solid state drive. Those paying extra for the M6700 Covet will get access to 3D graphics with NVIDIA 3D Vision Pro.
Both products will feature the necessary array of connectivity for on-the-road professionals, such as two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and one eSATA/USB combo port. There is also room for one VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2. When hooked up, the M4700 and M6700 can both power up to three displays, or five when locked into a dock.
Prices for the machines upon release in the US will be $1,649 for the Dell Precision M4700, $2,199 for the M6700 and $3,579 for M6700 Covet.
