Avnet has swelled its ranks with the acquisition of value add distributor Magirus.
The deal will see Magirus group, a big name in European distribution, subsumed by Avnet, which will have access to the eleven markets it operates its datacenter services business in.
Magirus has built its distribution business since 1981, and has grown to work with over 4,500 resellers, offering services based on virtualisation, cloud computing, security and more.
Distribution powerhouse Avnet will now take over the firm which saw its revenues climb 20 percent last year to $530 million, on the back of its relationships with vendors such as Cisco, VMware and EMC.
The deal is set to go through in October this year, subject to the usual regulation checks.
“The acquisition of Magirus will significantly enhance our competitive position in Europe and the Middle East by expanding our suite of solutions in high-growth technologies,” said Phil Gallagher, president of Avnet Technology Solutions.
