South West Communications rolls out security offering
South West Communications Group has added a Symantec-based cloud security product to its communications and data centre services offerings
Devon-based South West Communications Group, which provides communications, networking and data centre services across the UK, said it has formed a deal with Symantec to offer cloud-based security services for small- and medium-sized businesses.
The company said the security product is a natural addition to its existing business business-oriented networking services, which include broadband, data backup and server hosting, as well as telephony services.
Web filtering
The new services include protection from viruses and spam as well as web filtering systems allowing organisations to block dangerous websites or personal services such as social networks.
Symantec has been expanding its cloud security portfolio in recent months, in November launching an instant-messaging security offering called Instant Messaging Security.cloud (IMS.cloud) with support for Microsoft Lync.
In January Symantec acquired longtime partner LiveOffice, a provider of cloud-based archiving services that provides hosted archiving services to about 20,000 customers.
Yesterday, Sepaton said it had received Symantec certification.
