RapidSwitch shouts about data safety ahead of World Backup Day

Server hosting firm RapidSwitch is attempting to raise awareness of costly data losses as part of World Backup Day.

Taking place on Saturday 31st March, World Backup Day aims to raise awareness about the problem of data safety with the global economy increasingly data-reliant.

World Backup Day was created by a university student in the US after seeing a discussion regarding backup awareness on web community Reddit.  He thought that the day before April Fool’s Day was a great time to start making sure files were backed up, apparently.

As part of the Word Backup Day festivities RapidSwitch will now be giving away 10GB of cloud backup space free with every server ordered over the weekend.

Neil Christie at RapidSwitch highlighted the importance of the day to ChannelBiz UK.

“We are seeing now that everything our clients are doing with their servers is relating to data,” he said. “Whether they are processing storing or streaming it is all about data.  Our clients are making their money off what they are doing with their data.”

“World Backup Day seems quite timely as the world does seem to revolve around data, particularly in the UK moving to financial services, the onus on data and records and information seems to be what our economy is based on,” Christie said.

“A lot of clients don’t realise how important how important the information is until they suffer with a problem.”
